Hello! I use Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard and had been using it for couple of years (I love that keyboard!) and stopped using my home PC for a week as I borrowed a laptop for a week. When I returned to my PC, all of a sudden my keyboard wouldn't type correctly. After bit of investigation, I think the PC detects that I'm holding down CTRL+SHIFT+DEL. I used my old keyboard and it's giving same problem. So I updated Windows and keyboard's software. But no luck. I went into safe mode to see if it would give me same problem but to my surprise, I was able to type perfectly. I've tried to uninstall the keyboard software and using fresh download but no luck. The Microsoft keyboard is plug and usb too since it's cordless keyboard and the Trust old keyboard is plug. Today, I discovered couple of more problems, Microsoft documents are refusing to open and I was unable to replace some files in C:/. Help? Thanks
Have you gotten any new USB devices around this time period? Sounds like an issue I had after installing a USB game controller with buggy drivers.
Whenever there is an issue like this, you should run a full scan with malwarebytes just to be sure. If that shows up clean, try opening up the "On Screen Keyboard" if any of the keys are stuck or malfunctioning (like full of soda or something), they should show up on the screen (press a key to see what I mean). If that is clean, try removing the software and drivers for the keyboard; it should work without them. In fact, do this anyway.
Hiya, done viruses, malware and spyware with various scanners, few detections but still didn't solve the problem. When I bring up the on-screen keyboard you could see it flicking random keys. I've removed and reinstalling drives - no luck.
Don't know about that. Since keyboards are fine in Safe Mode. Just normal mode when it's problematic.
if its working fine in safe mode and not in normal mode its probably a software issue.try the on screen keyboard in safe mode and check that nothing unusual is happening ( you have probably already done that).the other thing is check the keyboards ports(usb port and keyboard port).the other thing is does it happen all the time or only when your online???
What if you don't reinstall them? As far as I know, they are only needed in windows 2000 and earlier anyway...and even then, they are only needed for the multimedia keys. Remove the whole driver package and any apps that came with the keyboard, and use the generic HID keyboard driver that comes with windows.
