Hi all I like to think i am not one of these people who keep asking the same questions over and over again and was always patient whenever my starview 2 box went down and needed and update. I found people on this forum so so helpful and got me up and running again in no time, so a big thank you first of all. Nag 3 finally kicked in today so naturally i started having a look around and came across this box Kryptview 780. I just have a few questions about it. 1) I know it connects to your router, my router is upstairs and my cable tv is downstairs would this cause a problem? 2) i know its hard to say but do you think this will last at least a year? because i think the starview 6 you have to buy a new box each year? 3) Is it traceable by virgin? i mean with it connected to the net 24/7 can they "see" or "work" out what its up to? Sorry if these are basic questions but any help would be appreciated Chris
did i not answer this already!! 1. you would probably be better trying to move your router downstairs 2. they are ment to last longer than a year unlike the starview 3. yes if they really want to trace you they can but the way that they would do it would probably be illegal aswell
Hi e45, Can you run more than one 780 (assuming you have spare ports on your router) and if so, can you mix and match ie have a 780 & a SV6? Cheers Fbee
hi could someone please tell me is there any difference between k v 750 and kv 780 eg is 1 harder to add firmware ect many thanks
the 750 need's an iconnector for it to work on your internet as it dont have a built in one the new 780 is the replacement for the 750 and has a built in lan connection on the box both boxes are excatly the same when putting firmware on them no different just different firmware that is all you get the same channels on both boxes regardless
as said above by e45 but unless you already have the kryptview a750 then you prob be better buying the a780
unless its old stock nobody should have the 750 in stock now so they will only be able to get the 780 now. But the iconnector is and will be still available for the 750 model
cheers e45 / hooter 1 more question i read on here somewhere that installing software using vista you may have problems do you think this is right
you may have to install a driver for the serial to usb connector for the rs232 cable only on some vista laptops though if it is the case with yourself just ask
no you should not have to add new firmware often unless something happens in the future to the boxes or channels go down ect..
just before i go is it easy enough to do not to clever on pc !!! but managed to put firmware on starview 2 a couple of times i have read thread on how to do it .dont seem to bad but it wont have to be for me to get it wrong !i also have v****n bb do you recomend i change provider or is it ok to keep the same ...sorry for so many questions
