I have an Everex NM3500W laptop that has a DVD drive that won't load whatsoever. The reason I need it fixed is because it can't load windows because of a system32 file that is corrupted or missing. So I have a huge problem that I have no clue on how to fix. If possible I need to fix the DVD drive so I can use my Windows XP disc to fix the system32 file and be able to load windows. It seems like I won't be able to fix this problem but I thought I would try.

    Thank you for any help.

is there an exclamation mark in device manager or an error code like 39?

I can't get to the Device Manager because I can't even load windows.

Nope. I get the same error message when I try to boot in safe mode. I'm beginning to think that it's a lost cause :(

Does the laptop have a recovery partition on the hard drive so you can restore it to the original state that it was, when you got the laptop?

When it starts to boot, it should tell you which button, on your keyboard, to press to get into recovery mode.

Also, you might be able to use an external DVD drive to load Windows. I am not certain of that, though. You would have to see if is recognized in your BIOS.
