I'm sure you have seen me alot over at the PSP hacking section but I have a problem and hope that someone can help me: I have a Compaq Presario C714NR, with a 120 GB HDD (When I look at the C drive, it comes up as 103 GB Total), 1 GB of RAM (Two 512 MB Cards) and use programs daily such as: Limewire, Trend Micro Anti Virus, and SpySweeper. I have the automatic updates set to "yes" on both Trend Micro AV and SpySweeper. I also do alot of psp homebrew and firmware downgrading. But when I am done with these files, I move them to the recycle bin and then "Empty Recycle Bin". I have also tried "Disk Clean Up" on my C Drive. Currenty, I have 71.6 GB of free space on my C Drive. A few days ago I can confirm that I have had MORE Than 73 GB of free space on my C Drive. Please help me. I'm very upset that my brand new laptop is losing so much mempory for no reason! P.S. When I bought my laptop from BestBuy, I had the geek squad do the basic junkware removale and anti spyware installation (Trend Micro Anti Virus and SpySweeper). I aslo am running Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (came with my laptop).
vista has two partitions on has os the other has EISA config used for boot recovery there is a way to make sure you are using all hd space vista lets you manage your hd partitions first i would try a defrag to free up all possible space. To resize a partition with Windows Vista, follow these steps: Be sure to back up any valuable information, because there is a slight chance that data can be lost when dealing with partitions. 1) Click on the Start menu 2) Right click on Computer and click on Manage 3) You may get a User Account Control dialog here; just click Continue 4) In the left pane, open up the Storage category and click on Disk Management 5) Here, you will find your partitions for your disks. Thanks, that helped me free up a good amount of space. The problem is still occuring. As I use my laptop, something seems to be continually taking up space on the C Drive. I'm not any good with the inner workings of computers but I must try to find out what is causing this. I may just take it to Geek Squad and let them try to figure it out. Thanks for the responce.
No, I am talking about the 120 GB HDD - C Drive. When I close LimeWire, it goes to the system tray. I then close it from there so that is 100% shut down. It could be a virus, but I don't see how it could slip past Trend Micro AV, SpySweeper, and the enhanced security installed with Vista. Any other thoughts?

first check and see where the file is located if it is in sys32 it is most likely a virus if it is in program files (as stated before) it is hewlett packard's you need to see where processes are coming from If you have both BT and WiFi and want to be able to turn them off and on independently, you'll want to keep HP Wireless Assistant. BTW, unless the configuration has changed significantly, you can uninstall many of these and still get them back as long as you keep the C:\SWSETUP folder around.
go to start> computer> local disc c> windows> system 32 look for hpqToster it will look like application if you find it there It is prob a virus because it is not a windows core file
I still haven't had any luck locating it. Is it in a file, or is it one of the appications at the bottom?
it may not be in system 32 if it isnt it is good news It means that It is the one that is put there by hp you can simply disable it if you like it is there for hp add-ons for bluetooth programs that is what we are trying to narrow down. hp dosent give much reason for the application except the only thing i can find that it works somehow in conjunction with your wireless assistant. but as I stated before it is a program that some malware camouflage themselves with. if it is not found in your system 32 it is probably safe.can you send copy of processes
