what happens is that in order for me to turn on my laptop i have to close the lid like half way till the log in screen shows up then open it up, type the password, quickly close the lid half way again and wait for a few blinks from the screen and then i can keep it open. Ok, so what could be the problem?

I would reformat but i'm afraid it would void my warranty. Im not entirely sure if it would but im quite certain it would.

Another thing is, i still have warranty on it, but i have some illegal software on the computer, if i took it back into future shop, do you think they will repair it without looking inside of it?

Here is everything i see from whatever it is called, (i right clicked properties on My Computer):

    Windows Edition:
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    Service Pack 1

    System:
    Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: HP Pavilion dv9500 Network PC
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5250 @ 1.50GHz 150 Ghz
    System Type: 32-bit Operating System

the software has nothing to do with your problem & how would they know if software is not legal. send it back to be fixed but most likely will get replacement laptop without your info.

leave it alone but save your info just in case you get a replacement laptop.
