I currently have a SD television and have a laptop connected to it through S-Video. This connection is extremely fuzzy, but still viewable. So, if I get a HDTV with a VGA port, and connect it to my laptop, will it still be extremely fuzzy? I am not hoping to get High definition but at least I have to get SD quality. Can someone post pictures of the quality difference between S-Video and VGA on a HDTV? Thanks!

PC output on an HDTV using the VGA port will be "monitor quality" so long as you don't exceed the physical capabilities of the monitor.

The difference between S-video and VGA on an HDTV is the difference between SD and HD.

VGA can fully handle HD content. You don't even need a VGA port on your new HDTV. There are VGA-->DVI and VGA-->HDMI adapters. The only thing you won't get from VGA is sound coming through the cable the way it will with HDMI.

There are two outcomes from this. 1) You will only be able to achieve 2-channel sound through your laptop. 2) You will need to use something to connect your laptop's headphone jack to external speakers.
