laptop wireless card bad?

    The signal from my router reads as poor of the time and occasionally comes up as excellent which is what my desktop's signal is. I'm guessing that i may need to replace the wireless card but i don't have much experience with laptops so i'm not sure.

    HP Pavilion DV2000
    Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG

    even though it is showing a poor signal is it still letting you surf the internet? My wireless card on my laptop does that occasionally too but it still works without any issues.

    It does drop the connection very often even when i'm in the same room as my router.
