I have a couple of 700Mb AVI files that I want to use to create a DVD movie with, however in doing so choosing the highest quality NTSC causes the end result to be over 5Gb so it won't fit on a DVD. So I tried using TMPG to convert the AVI to MPG but that takes like 11 Hours and it fails by having the screen frame freeze half-way through. Any suggestions? I don't want to lose quality.
Use a bitrate calculator to calculate the optimum bitrate that will fit on a single DVD-R. There are several here in the software section. As for tmpgenc freezing, you probably have a corrupt AVI (probably Divx?). Try using DivxFix.
