I have a large 5.45 Gig software iso file (Nero) on hard disk. How can I save it to regular DVD-R and stll be able to install it? Can I split it into two DVDs (without corrupting it), upload to a hard disk file and install it? How do I do it with Nero? Would anybody help this newbie?
you can use a virtual drive to load that iso, nero has one, alcohol120% has one, deamon tools has one... and install the app. if you need to save it to dvdr, open the iso with either isobuster, ultraiso or winrar, to see all files inside and work out if by taking some file/folder out it gets under 4.38gig dvdr and place that on 1 dics and the rest on 2nd dvdr... just remeber where folder came from when you place back togehter by copy and paste to desktop and that the iso isnt a bootable software thats needed to boot sometime!
Thank you Iluvendo and Rotary for your consideration. Iluvendo, it is an application. Rotary, I did understand your explanation very well and allow me to reason on and please check if I am correct. As I split the beast into two discs I will burn them as regular iso files but the copies won´t be iso files anymore. In the future, I would upload the contents of the two discs to a common directory and install it from there. Is this reasoning correct or should the copy that contains the main application be iso for it to install? I believe I did understand installation from a virtual drive. Just have to get instructions from Nero on how to do it.
thats about it, but the opened up iso will just be files and folders extraxted from the iso "wrapper" and unpacked into a folder you made useing the software i listed... so with the files and folders take part of it out into another folder creating 2 folders that are under the size of a dvdr 4.38gig... you burn these 2 folders as data not an iso! to note: some software doesnt run from a folder and needs to be a iso/dvdr/cdr etc as it reads from D:/ drive dvdrom for files... this being the case you can take the 2 dvdrs you made from 2 folders, place back the files on to your pc and make an iso with ultraiso from the whole content. to test if your software runs from pc as files, when you first unpack the iso to your pc folder ready for splitting test the install there! -------------- my nero v8 "start menu/Program Files\Nero\Nero toolkit\Nero ImageDrive"
A Nero Installation package contains a lot of junk that many people will probably never use. You might be able to get rid of a lot of it, (like multiple language package, InCd, Nero Scout...just about anything that you think you might never use), and make another ISO small enough to burn it on a DVD5.
