Basically anything from 7.5.9.0 onwards, I use and recommend this version.

Thanks, that's the one I was using on my first Vista machine. If it ain't broke don't fix it, I guess.

I'm about to throw my Pc out the window, I have the version mentioned above running on Vista.
I have the K Lite codecs installed. But everytime I go to a folder containing video I get either "COM surrogate has stopped working" or "DLL32 is not responding" there are solutions on other websites which claim that renaming one of the nero files will resolve this.
I did that then Nero did not work!
I have searched everywhere for a solution to this, further to it I now get an internet explorer is not responding so I can't even access my videos. . please someone clever let me know how to resolve this i'm thinking of just uninstalling nero and all my codecs (Then there's no point in having the pc!)

    Hi Mflower

"This problem is caused because of codecs and other COM components installed by various softwares that aren't fully Vista-compatible, like some versions of DivX or Nero"

Take note of your nero serial number and uninstal your nero by running "Nero 7 Clean Tool" which you can download from here

    Uninstal the K Lite codecs

Run Ccleaner to clean out your system, which you can download from here

Reboot. Download from here and instal the latest nero 7.10.1.0.

Reboot. Download from here and instal the latest "K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 3.4.5".

And lastly, you're more likely to get quick responses if you open your own thread :)

    Hope this helps.
