Since I finally finished college, I now have a surplus of free time on my hands. I've always wanted to learn some basic programming, so I was hoping to start learning some now. I haven't really got an idea where to start. (are there some good books/websites, which language to start with?)

Any advice would be appreciated thanks

First, Basic is a very outdated language...even visual basic is old.

The first step in programming is to decide what you want to program for...this will determine the language you need to learn.

Once you find the language you want, you can usually find a lot of good info for free online, but a "For Dummies" book can be a lot easier to use.
