Hi! First of all I'm sorry for my english, and any mistakes made by creating this thread. Few days ago I bought new DVD Revorder. It's called HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10N (It's LG). I connected it as secondary slave (primary is Lite-on CD recorder). My BIOS sees it as HL-DT-DT-DVDRAM GSA-H10N JL10. But Windows sees it as HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10N SCSI CdRom Device: As You can see, my Lite-on is seen as SCSI device too, and it works correctly. DVD recorder reads DVDs correctly. But when I try to record sth on DVD (by Nero v 6.6.0.13) it caches files (100%), then it freezes, and I must to reset my PC (can't close NERO in any possible way, all exept NERO works correctly). I tryied some other burn programs (DVD burner, CD burner) and it gives my some errors, and don't record. Some ppl said that this recorder shoulld be seen by Windows as IDE/ATAPI, not as SCISI device. Is that true? I tryied to upgrade BIOS of DVDrec but it fails: I connected this DVD to my friends PC, and it all works correctly (it records). It was seen as HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10N in Windows: More information about my PC: - Windows XP SP2 - mainboard: http://img73.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1ex7.jpg (if You don't understant anything - tell me I'll try to translate) - hard drive - Segate 40GB Could You help me somehow?
Switch the drives around. Set your HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10N as master and place it at the end of the IDE cable. Set your Lite-on CD recorder as slave and set it in the middle of the IDE cable. Hopefully this will sort it out for you.
I notice you are using an older version of Nero 6, suggest an update from here (both packages) http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2 http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe It wont solve your problem but you will have a "bug free" version of Nero.
You have a KT400 chipset made by VIA. There are some oddities with older VIA chipsets and the SCSI thing (on non-SCSI systems). Lightning UK of DVDDEcrypter had a rant on his old page regarding VIA and how if folks are experiencing problems with Decrypter they should email VIA to correct this SCSI anomaly. In Device Manager on my VIA system my virtual drives both show up as SCSI, but not my opticals. In Device Manager when you go to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers do you see: - Primary - Secondary - VIA Busmaster IDE Controller? Have you installed the VIA drivers (now called Hyperion)? They can be found here: http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1070 Run Nero InfoTool and post a pic of the configuration tab.
Well let's try another approach then. Uninstall the latest VIA Hyperions and try the ones listed for your MOBO, which appears to be a Matsonic 8147C. http://www.matsonic.com/mb/downloaddata/driver_vs478a.htm#ms8147c_series
