So I was taking a shower about an hour ago, and I had my phone up on the cabinet above my shower. I got a text message and it dropped into the shower right beside me. It was in there for only a second, and I grabbed it up and immediately removed the battery. I let it sit over a vent for about an hour and dry out. I turned it on about 5 minutes ago and it works fine so far. So now my question.. Do you think it will still work for an extended period of time? Because, the phone wasn't completely submerged, it just got a little wet. Any help is appreciated. =)
Take the battery out and leave it somewhere warm and dry.. not hot, as that can actually do more damage. You might have got away with it.. but give it a couple of days in the airing cupboard or a sunny window to be sure. It may work now, but all the time any residual damp may be corroding parts inside... add power and it could go off at any time causing terminal damage.
Air it out in a dry area you should be fine - you might get some water vapor / condensation later at which point you can elect to crack the phone open and let it air out. good luck!
Thanks for the replies guys. I left it out to air and popped it back in, and now it's running just like new. I don't think it had time to really get that wet on the inside as it was only in the water for a split second. And even then, it only touched the edge of the water. But it works fine. Thanks! =)
If it was working after the fact...I wouldn't worry about it. I was not so fortunate while using a stall in military Mobile Shower ...mine was submerged when the damn hot water heater busted and flooded the whole 'scott' damn trailer.
