Hi, I have just purchased the above ROM. The problem I have is that it will not recognise burnt DVD's. My DVD writer plays them and my old DVD ROM plays them, so why can't this new dvd rom recognise the DVD? It recognises CD's and shop purchased DVD's. The media I'm using is verbatim and Ricoh. I have looked at LG website to see if there is firmware updates but can't find any. Any advise would be welcome.
Answer is simple LG SUCKS. i have 2 dvd-rom from lg & none funftion properly with dvd-r or dvd+r. I goto website & the only updates they have for the drives are lord of the ring updates. LG? NEVER AGAIN!!
When LG does have an update, it is only for their retail branded drives. If you happen to get one as part of OEM new computer, they warn you not to upgrade from LG site but rather go to the computer manufacture. Chance of finding a firmware upgrade there is slim but after warranty is up, there will be NO chance at all. My LG DVD ROM died at age 13 months, just after new computer warranty was up. This was my second bad experience with these drives. LG = crap!
