I seem to be having a problem with this burner. It works fine at 4X but screws the movies up at 8X. I'm guessing my media is the issue, but before I go out and get new disks, I thought I'd run it through here at first. I'm using Maxell media, and up til this arose had never had a problem with them. Just in case it's not the disks any sugestions as to what is wrong here. Nero 6.xxx, DVD shrink. The HDD is set to DMA Mode 5, Sempron 3000+ proc. 512 M ram. I thought at first it may have been Nero 7 as I had other problems with this ver. earlier on and reinstalled the older version. Any ideas?

    TIA

Personally, I had bad luck with LG burner - it wouldn't read my WinXP disk in a brand-new rig.
I took it right back and got Plextor ;^)
But apart from that, that's a nice link to LG Canada and all you can do is make sure the firmware's up to date with the latest blank media.
Then, burn at half-rating ie. burn at 4x if rated 8x.
You wanna burn 8x? Get 16x blanks.
I have some Sony DVD+R 8x and Nero offers me 12x with them! They are good blanks and I will burn them at 8x.
Playback issues might be specific to the playback device, ie. a certain DVD player might love a certain brand and hate another, though your burner and Nero might like them both...
What else? Hopefully your harddisk and burner are on separate controllers. Good luck,
    Regards

Thanks for the replies. IThe firmware is the latest.I will try the higher speed disk to see if that helps. I have a TDK burner as well, and the ony issue I've ever had with that was it won't burn all disk brands. The burners reside one IDE 1 and the HDD's on IDE 0.
