    Hey all,

I am looking to buy a dvd burner for my younger sister. I currently have a BenQ 1640 which I'm very happy with. I am debating buying the 1650 (dont care for lightscribe) and giving my sister the 1640. However I doubt she'll be buying + media since its a bit more expensive. So I considered getting her the LG H10A, I can't find any thoughts on this drive on the forum so I wanted to know if anyone had this drive. I know the BenQ's favor + media so I figured that I should get one that is indifferent towards the media type.

Also if I were to get the 1650, do you guys recommend I keep my old 1640 or keep the 1650?

1650 will be available; 1640 is no longer produced

    Hey StanH1000,

maybe I was not clear in my 1st post. I have a 1640 and was planning on giving this old drive to my sis and keeping the 1650 if I were to by it. I was also considering getting her the LG H10A and just keeping my current 1640. I wanted advice as to whether I should get the 1650 and give my current 1640 to my sis, or just get her the LG h10A and keep my 1640 keeping in mind that she'll most likely be buying - media.

    Thanks

My last LG drive lasted 13 mos, just long enough for the warranty to expire. It worked OK while it was alive but was always very noisy.
BenQ is such a good drive that Plextor, Sony and others have chosen to rebadge them. The Q suite software, drive dependability, drive speed, support with frequent firmware updates, all add up to dominance over competitors. The recent sales at Newegg make it available for under $40.

I'll stick with BenQ, thanks! So do you suggest I keep the 1650 or 1640? My sis won't be using it as much as me, she just needs a burner.

Might as well go with the newer one.
