I have a lg dvd writer, GSA-4167B, which i do not seem to have any problems with. When i go to device manager it says DL12 whish i believe is my firmware. I went to the lg update site h**p://gb.lgservice.com/gcsc/b2c/hpi/main and had a look and i noticed an update DL13. But i am baffled a bit because when i read through the instructions it says (This firmware update is for drives with original firmware versions below DL12.) My version is DL12, I have never updated it since i bought it, is it alright to update or should i leave it especially since i do not seem to have any problems. Any help appreciated.
Firmware updates usually contain new media types, not bugfixes, although your particular situation does suggest there might be a bugfix, since it skips your current firmware. Personally, I like to keep my firmware up-to-date, although I prefer using modded firmwares from rpc1.org. Just make sure, if you update, to do it in Safe Mode.
