light to dark flicker during playback in home dvd player

    I have a problem when I playback a specific movie --- it flickers light to dark to light, fairly consistently every few seconds. The movie is watchable but it is distacting. What did I do wrong this time??? The DVD player is fine with other movies. Ideas?

    Is the problem apparent on the PC and a standalone player?
    It it an original or a backup?

    It's a downloaded file and it does it both on the PC and the standalone player. Is it a poor quality download?

    I'm no expert, but could it be that there was Macrovision protection
    on this particular movie. Maybe if you backed up that disc using
    one of the unencryption programs and then burned a new disc?
    Macrovision on VHS or DVD does go from dark to light to dark to light
    until it would drive you right up the walls.
