Hi I just recently got the NOD32 virus and Macafee Pro Firewall and now limewire can't access the internet and won't even open. I disabled both and made exceptions and also disable windows firewall and made exceptions also... I don't know what else there is to do Im running Windowns XP Media Center Limewire Pro4.16.6 please help thankyou
Limewire has spyware btw. Try uninstall/reinstall. Was it working before? Or did you install it for the first time? Did you pirate it, or buy it from their site? Is it running in the process list?
well i used to have it no problem then tried out frostwire changed firewalls then frost wire stopped working same error message then thought i'd try limewire and yes i did not buy it from their site and tried install/reinstall yes it is in the procces list
Uninstall Limewire. Use a registry scanner (Google a free one). Locate it's install location (C:\Program Files\Limewire), delete it. Try installing again. Did it work? If not, check the NOD32 site, and the Mcafee for solution, becuase some firewalls have issues with certain programs. Also, if you want a better firewall, I'd reccomend COMODO Firewall Pro, it's free, BRILLIANT!!, and shows every little thing that happens. It has saved my computer so many times. I'm quite the pirate, and when I downloada file, the program tries to access your internet or important system files. You can block these requests.
Thanks I did kinda of what you said but I already had one with Tune up uttilities so i uninstalled that tried to uninstall my mcafee but didn't work so i disabled it and working on deleting it I have ZAP now so I am fine with that NOD32 is fine and I downloaded the free version of frostwire off of www.frostwire.com and is working perfectly fine... I needed to "tune up" my PC anyway it was getting sluggish thanks for the help
Just so long as you didn't bother with comodo chocolate fireguard and don't have limewire (or whatever variant it is) set to start on bootup. You need to control the thing, so that it is only connected when you say it can be, and not all the time or you will be wondering where your bandwidth went.
yeah true to that i don't let anything start up except my critical things like antivirus and firewalls
