My linksys router is sending out a fake IP address of 24.124... Is there any way to set it so it sends out something else? I'm trying to access a chat server which banned ALL 24.124 addresses because of some hacker doing a number on their server. I really want to get in without having to buy another router. I have a WRT54G V5
That's probably your public IP address. You cannot do anything about that; nearly all cable providers in the U.S. use 24.x.x.x addresses. Lots of services ban 24.x.x.x for security reasons - too many cable and DSL users who don't know what the f they're doing getting infected with worms, bots, etc. Although you might be able to find an open proxy which may allow you to access the chat network, anything you send back and forth can be and usually is intercepted and stored by that proxy. Furthermore, you can get kicked off if your ISP finds out.
