Why not detail exactly how you have everything setup:

Cable or phone modem, then start from the wall and go from there.

Here is how you connect up your wireless Linsys Router. 1. First connect to your internet through your computer only making sure you have an internet connection through your internet service provider. 2. Then shut down your computer. 3. Now plug in your computer to your router and power up your router by pluging in the router to an electrical outlet. 4. Now turn on your computer and if you have a laptop make sure you have the wireless card installed in your laptop. 5. After the computer boots up go to Start click on Start, click on Run, type in cmd you will now see a screen with a blinkin - type in ipconfig /release then when you see blinking - type in ipconfig /renew then when you see blinking - type in exit. Now reboot and you should be fine.

OK, forget for a moment that you have a wireless router. The first thing you need to do is make sure that you DO HAVE an internet connect before setting the wireless router up. That's why I asked how your setup is from start to finish.

If it’s DSL then it should be this way first for an internet connection:

Black Phone Line that came with your DSL modem going from the wall outlet to your DSL modem. Power on for your modem of course. Ethernet cable FROM your modem to A PC or Laptop to verify that you have an internet connection first. Make sure that your Ethernet port is ON on your PC or Laptop.

If Cable modem, it’s the cable from the wall into the Cable modem, then the rest is the same.

Do you have this setup right and do you have a connection to the internet first before trying to install a wireless router?
