Hi can somebody help me please?I'm hoping to get saorview and uk free to air channels on the one box.I was hoping to have a 7 day epg for both saorview and satellite.I was told combo boxes won't do this that i would have to get a linux box.I have never used a linux box before so hoping somebody could advise me what box to get hopefully the easiest to use.I would like to be able to record channels also. Thanks for any help i'm just clueless about this.
you cant get irish tv channels free to air on the sky satellite(astra/eurobird 28 east) but you can get all the uk channels .you could use a combo box but if you got a combo satellite and terrestrial box the terrestrial side would have to be mpeg4 compatabale .like these combo boxes http://www.satelliteshop.ie/shop/in...e&category_id=42&Itemid=27&vmcchk=1&Itemid=27 alternatively if you would prefer a linux box such as a dreambox you could just have a dm800 recieving all the free to air channels just from the sky satellite and you can add a device like this to your dm800 http://www.buyincoins.com/details/d...ongle-tuner-recorder-receiver-product-70.html http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/D2055A-US...70707310257&po=&ps=63&clkid=70782450941881488
the epg you get depends on the box you get ,most boxes only have now and next as standard but some may have a better epg ,you will have to look at the box specs to find this out .to record you need a pvr box ,a pvr box is a box capable of recording ,recordings are usually stored on a usb stick or a hard disk drive .a hard disk drive will hold many more hours of recordings than a usb memory stick ,however a pvr box may not come with a hard disk drive as standard so you may have to buy the hard disk drive seperately .
