I have a Sony DVD player that will not play XviD, only DivX. 98% of the time I can convert without a problem. Occasionally I get a lip sink problem after the conversion. #1 The XviD have no lip sync problems. #2 If I use the FOUR CC Changer and check it with G-Spot I find that the "Codex" is Changed to DivX but the "Name " says XviD 1.1.2 Final. These films do not have a lip sync problems but they will not play on my Sony. Are their any other programs that I could try to solve this problem? Thanks
If you stop the Sony and restart it at that point, does the sync correct itself? I sometimes get it with my player too, it only occurs (as far as I can see) on AVI files with VBR audio.
Thanks for your reply. Stopping and re starting the DivX films don't help, in fact they even play out of sync when I play them on my P.C.
I hope this will help.In my experience of years of copying moveis i've noticed that some avi movs were out of synch on my pc but when i burn to disc using nero it was a perfect copy,as for your dvd player not playing xvids but only divx i always thought that these are exactly the same formats,and that these are only codecs for your movs,xvid is better quality than divx,my player plays avi movs or divx compatible,most of the avi movs i have are xvid codecs,my player doesnt say anything about playing xvids and as for the lip synch problem try converting them with WINAVI 8.0 then use nero to burn them as data,and dont forget to check the divx compatible box on the left,hope that was useful. Thanks for your interest in my dilemma. Yes, DivX and XviD are very similiar. The only way I know to tell them apaprt is to put them on my Sony. The DivX all play perfectly and The XviD all say: DATA ERROR (DivX) It appears that the WINAVI 8.0 converts *.avi to other formats? I don't think that will help. You mentioned checking a box on Nero. I use Nero for my burning but I can't find a divx box?? What page is it on? Thanks agagin for your help.
Thanks for replying jxblack, as for the divx nero,what version nero express is yours? mine is 7.7.5.1, now what you need to do is open up nero, you want to make dvd data,click on add files,find avi,click next,now this is the tricky bit,after clicking next and all you see is,current recorder,disc name,number of copies yada yada, click the rectangle box with the little triangle in it, that is the option button,that will open up you will see video files message "INCREASE COMPATIBILLITY MPEG 4 VIDEO FILES" and so on, if you dont see that, make sure your vid file is .avi or else it wont show any of that, i made the mistake of remanimg my .avi files to proper name and forgot to have the .avi at the end of the name,so that can be frustrating when you have avi files lined up ready to burn an none of them have the .avi at the end,then all you have to do is check multisession disc and hey presto avi on disc, reply if you want more info.
If u have lip sync problem, then first download media player classic. or you can do is download latest version of klcodec . it has media player classic in it. now run the movie in media player classic. at anytime ..right classic on the video screen. you will get an option audio. in audio when u go.. click on options. in options you have audio switcher. check the box with "audio time shift" and put in some value in milliseconds. put positive for delay in audio and negative for coming earlier. Now by some hit & trials, you kno how many milliseconds delay is required. Download AVI-Mux GUI-1.17.7. from http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/AVI-Mux_GUI-1.17.7.zip once installed proceed to steps below. Load your avi file into Avi_mux (right-click -> add). Click on the avi file to select it. Click the "Generate Data Source From Files" button. Information about audio and video streams will appear in the bottom window. Click on the audio stream. Now, you must see "delay [ms]" showing on the right side of the window. Enter audio delay value, for example: If you see in the movie that a person speaks, and you can hear the voice only several seconds later (Audio is after Video), then you must choose negative value (in milliseconds), for example: -5000 = shift audio by 5 seconds before video If you can hear the voice in the movie too early, and only after several seconds you can see & determine who has said that (Audio is before Video), then you must enter positive value (in milliseconds): 5000 = shift audio by 5 seconds after video Finally, click start button, choose output avi filename. DONE!
Nah i tried AVI-MUX, my opinion useless,virtual dub 1.7.8,audio interleaving, much better,you can see the results instantly, instead of waiting for the out put file. I've a copy of King of Kong,it was out by about quarter of a second, it plays perfect,what happens when using this program is you can adjust the milliseconds and it changes it instant,instead of thinking thats about right, then saving to avi to see if its done correct, virtual dubs the one.
