    Hi,
I have a Lite-On LTR 52327S. I have just installed a new hard drive with XP pro OS and now the CD-RW wont format RW CDs as rewritable; once the format is complete the device icon shows as CD-ROM although the discs then act as CD-Rs which can be completely erased.

If I uninstall InCD I get no format options but the discs are recognised as RW, with InCD the device just shows as CD-ROM.

I’ve installed Lite-On’s firmware without success.

I’m assuming that I’m missing some driver.

    Can any one help?

    Thanks

When you put a CDRW into your drive and then look at it in My Computer it doesn't indicate that it is a CDRW but just a CDR?
Or is this what which ever burning program refers to it as?

Thanks for your interest. I have, however, fixed the problem.

I was missing the aspi. With that installed the CD-RW works fine.

Hey, this is an old post, but I am having troubles with re-using a CD-RW disc -- can't get it erased in order to use it again.

I noticed that you mentioned ASPI -- what's ASPI.

Nero tells me that ASPI is not installed -- would that have anything to do with my problem.

OK, I see that, and know just a little about SCSI, and sorry, but I can't tell if this is something I need in my system -- ilel for proper operation of my LITE-ON disc recorders -- are these SCSI devices.
