I got a this dvd burner in December and all was good, fine installation so the burning was fine. This all continued until last week. All of a sudden, the drive was not recognizing dvds as dvds. I went to burn something and it said, please insert a proper disk, so I tried 2 different brands of dvds about 5 each to see if they worked. But the same message kept on popping up. I replaced the dvd drive for 10$ at staples (had to buy a stupid plan). Now the same thing is happening, so I am beginning to think it was not the burner that was having problems. So, I would like to ask: 1) What am I doing wrong? I updated Nero to 7 now. 2) Anyone else had a problem like this? 3) Am I having errors because I installed some program that messed it up? I'm pretty desperate right now, my hds filling up and this new burner is not working. PS. I found a way to get around it, I used DVD decryptor to burn an iso and it worked. I just tried to do it again and was unsuccessful. What is going on? Thanks for reading and seriously, any help is appreciated.
make sure your firmware is up to date here is a link on how to check & update it http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/315326
yeah some messed up shit happened...all of a sudden the burner started working again...I didn't upgrade firmware or anything, just uninstalled, reinstalled. The thing is, I did that before and it had no effect. Thanks for the help, let's hope this doesn't happen again.
