i was just wonder if this is a good unit to recored of TV i am going to be hooking it up to a satellite and was just wonder if this dvd recorder would do the trick?
There have been known problems with that particular unit. What I suggest is hooking it up and giving it a try. It may be fine for recording TV programs. Keep your receipt in case you need to return it though. You can look through the various threads here to get info on this unit. A lot has been posted about it.
Disregard my above post. I thought you were talking about the ILO05. My mistake. Let me backtrack here. I have heard GOOD things about the LiteOn 5005. I just ordered one myself. You can look through the threads and find more info.
i am planning mainly just recording off tv so i just want to make sure that this is a good unit.... i heard that the tv turner is that good but i think i will take my chances and see what it brings me.. where can i get the hacks for this unit...i hear the 3 hour record opition is the best for recording...thanks and i was just wondering if the lite-on 5005 will record on to dvd9 discs?
The lite one unit is an alright one.I got mine at Radio Shack 9 months ago but it quit reading and recording my dvd's within 2 months.I had to call lite on and they were super rude to me.I sent them the liteon back.took them 3 weeks to send me another. That one was a refurbish unit and quit working after a month.I called them up and told them I wanted a brand new unit after argueing with them for over an hour they agreed.Have had this one for over 6 months. So far so good.It is an easy unit to play around with, but for me I am done with that unit ,next time I think I will go with the Panasonic. Good luck with the unit.
Hooking it up with just the TV tuner, I'm not sure how good it'll be since I don't use the tuner - I use satellite receiver. But hooking it up to the satellite you'll get really good quality using S-Video. I use 1 hr, 2 hr, 3 hr and 4 hr to record, but not the 6. The 6 is just too poor of quality. The best is 1 & 2 hr. Recording quality goes down with the longer recording times. When I want to record my TV shows I still use my VCR. I use the DVD Recorder for movies only from various sources including movies off of HBO, etc.
