Hello, Until recently I have had no problems with my Lite-ON EZ-Dub External USB DVD Drive. But know when there is no disc in it it says DVD-RW Drive. When I put a Dvd in it it Plays. But when I put a Blank Dvd Media in it I have tried everything +, -R, etc. Different Brands, including my two favorites Verbatim and Tayo Yuden. And everytime I put a blank DVD Media in it, it automatically in front of my eyes under My Computer change from DVD-RW drive to CD DRIVE ??????????? And will not accept any Blank DVD MEDIA. I already have a DVD Rom in my Computer. I bought the external to exchange Dvd information from disc to disc. So right now this drive is Basically Useless to me. Can any one Please Help Me........
How long have u had it? did you use it heavily? has it been dropped or jarred recently? Have u tried goint to the liteon website and finding a firmware update any of these could be possibilities sometimes there are updates from the manufacturer that address specific operating systems and windows updates to make things more compatible. More information from you would be helpful if you have had it over 3 years and it was heavily used there could be some internal wear I have seen this problem in older systems brought to me for repair I generally just replace the unit.
