Can anyone advise on how to inprove the recording consistancy of this unit? Most of the time when I record programs direct from TV (timer-programmed or not) the unit indicates initially it's recording and then when the disk is done and I try to play it, the display then says "invalid disk". Attempting to 'finalize' doesn't help becuase the player won't recognise the disk at all. When I set the recording time to say 2hrs SP often the machine doesn't even finish recording .. before the time is up it displays "fail" halfway through. I have used Maxdata, Ritek, Princo and Data Bank DVD-R's and 8 out of ten times I end up with coasters. I have also recorded VHS to DVD using this unit and often it won't recognize the same disk when I come to play it again, even after I've watched the same disk in the machine already once before ...'invalid disk' appears again. Do I have a faulty unit? Any advice?
Not to be sarcastic, but, welcome to the wonderful world of dvd recorders that DO NOT work. If any other product you own operated like what you see in these forums, you would have nothing to do with it. I have used four units, Sanyo, Ilo,Pioneer, and Panasonic. All provide the same inconsistent abilities. Media is a concern, but more so, products that have no business in the market place are the problem. We want to evolve to the next level from vtr/vcr and the manufactures are giving us junk. Sorry I cannot offer more help.
