I currently use AutoCAD R14. I draft houseplans as a side job. I really want to update my version of AutoCAD, but do not have money to buy an expensive program like this. Does anyone know where I can find a free version to download? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
You could try QCad, the open-source 2-d alternative to AutoCAD. I've never used it (I suck at drafting) but I have heard it's very similar, and perhaps it has the features you are needing? Sorry, just checked, I guess the QCad development has moved away from open source, although a community edition is still available if you are familiar with C-compilers, etc. The Pro version seems reasonably priced, I guess, compared to money-hungry AutoCAD, but again, it is 2-d only, not 3-d as far as I know. http://www.ribbonsoft.com/qcad_downloads.html gd luck, captain_carrot
Thank you very much for your help capcarrot. I don't use 3-d that often, so maybe I'll try Q-cad. I sure appreciate your input.
