Looking for good inexpensive capture device

    I was looking online and saw the Sandisk V-mate and it is 90 dollars and at circuit city it is 130 dollars is it anygood? Is there anything better? I am looking for a capture device that will record to a usb device or sd card or dvd because my dvr is in the living room, and my pc is upstairs
