Okay. I am connected through a router (lets call it A) that is connected to another router (B) that is connected to a modem. So my connection is A>B>modem. A is a wireless router, B is not a wireless router. I get immense lag when playing games from my PC when playing online. The only things running would be antivirus things and various small and meaningless programs. Also, any sort of game console connected through my router has immense lag as well. My Xbox and PS2 had lots of lag, they were connected through wires. I always had an orange or red connection. Even my Wii has lag and disconnects often when playing online (the Wii internet works fine). The Wii uses a wireless connection to play online. What's wrong with my setup? Anything I can change/improve? Forwarding ports didn't seem to do much. What should I do to lower or even remove lag?
1) Because we don't have enough long cables for all my stuff, plus we got the wireless router for free. I only have 1 really long cable, so I used that to connect the WAN. 2) I'm not sure how to check. The Local Area Connection thing says 100 mbps but I think thats bull.
try these links for speed. http://promos.mcafee.com/speedometer/test_0150.asp http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
Mcafee: 407.52 Kbps (50.94 KBps) Other thing: Download Speed: 5108 kbps (638.5 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 377 kbps (47.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
And uhh, how would I do that? The Local Area Connection thing says 100 mbps, but I'm not sure if thats what you mean.
that 100 mbps is only between modem & computer, outside of modem is a lot lower. check with your internet provider what the speed is to the house.
E-mail or ring them. I doubt they're going to advertise what speed you actually get as opposed to the speed they advertise on their website. I could be wrong.
