I captured 17 min of DV onto MovieMaker 2--3.4 GB worth. Converted it into MPEG with TMPGEnc (of note, it resulted in one video and one audio file, neither of which was clearly identified as an MPEG file). Regarding TMPGEnc, I used a standard NTSB (? spelling) format and the video file ended up being about 1 MB in size. I then opened Nero OEM which came with my burner (NU technologies DDW-082, latest firmware) and tried to import the MPEG file for burning. The only file that it wanted to import was the original AVI file from MM2. If I selected "all files", I was able to chose the one that I made with TMPGEnc, however, I'm still not sure that this was recognized as being MPEG. I was able to add chapters with Nero and began to burn to a DVD+RW. The whole thing went smooth until the very end (last 5%) when an error occured and it said that burning was unsuccessful. BTW, I did acquire and then burn directly into Nero successfully in the past, however, the video quality was terrible. That is why I tried to acquire with MM2--convert with TMPGEnc--burn with Nero. Any thoughts on why this process didn't work? Thank you very much for any advice. Rick
When you say converted it to MPEG, did you mean MPEG-2? Because DVD Players read MPEG-2 not MPEG. I may be wrong about this - because I too am a newbie. Maybe we should all start a DVD-Burning Newbie support group? lol
I believe that it was MPEG2. I followed the instructions and chose settings that allowed it to play on standard DVD players etc. My choices at that step seemed pretty clear although as with most things on computers, all you have to do is mess up one "click" and the whole thing is shot. BTW, I would love it if there was a site for newbie burners. I am pretty techno savy and have been shocked by how complicated this whole task is. Rick
