LP to CD recording

I want to record my LPs and cassettes to CD. I can't use Roxio's software because it won't recognize my driver. What's an easy, good editor to use; is there anything for free?

Also, how do I know where will my music go when it's recording? Will there be a destination file?

Audacity works well for this purpose. Just Google it.
