I'm attempting to convert my Signs BluRay for streaming. It has LPCM and AC3 tracks. I ran LCPM through eac3to, muxxed it with the .264 video file and it wouldn't play on either VLC or media player, regardless of file extention. It wouldn't play with the AC3 file either. Anyone know what this problem is? One last question - whats the best way to deal with discs where the movie is broken down into at least half a dozen 1.5gb-ish files?
If you have an HD audio receiver you can keep the LPCM track, streaming this in m2ts is fine. If you want to watch on your PC, use Media Player Classic (freeware) or Arcsoft Total Media Theatre (commercial). If you want to stream to the PS3 then use Cyberlink Media Pro, it streams m2ts files fine. Either way you choose you'll also need the proper codecs installed, use the latest build of K-Lite or CCCP (one or the other, not both). As for your second question, these movies are called seamless branching titles. Use eac3to to demux/append them. There is a GUI out there called eac3to_and_more_GUI. Check out the Doom9 forum on how to use both.
AC3 Doby Digital 5.1 will work over optical (TOSLINK) to your amp PCM will only work over hdmi to your amp and will not work over optical. It's all about bandwidth. Unless you have a PCM capable amplifier, you should stick to AC3
