i have a mpeg 2 file that i'm trying to burn onto a dvd+r. i'm not very good with burning dvd's and actually never have. is there a guide that tells me how to convert mpeg 2 to .vob so that i can make a dvd out of it using nero? i used tmpgenc to convert it to mpeg 2 and from there i'm lost.

You're onto the right track, but it's not quite as simple as 'converting' your MPEG2 file to a VOB file - you need an application to author the DVD. This will create the instructions for your DVD player to play the video (ex: VIDEO_TS.IFO) - take a look at a DVD you already own. It's not just .VOB files - there are others as well.

A few authoring programs that I know of: TMPG DVD Author, DBD-lab. I think IFO-Edit can do authoring as well, but I've never used it (yet).

    Good luck!
