I have just read this on maxconsole and it caught my attention:
    http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=13357

This is marked as a rumor, but I was wondering if anyone has recieved their R4 or M3 yet and would be willing to test this?

I thought something was strange when I saw this a while ago and saw both the M3 and R4 looked almost identical on the inside.

Perhaps the M3 team isn't telling us something?

In any case, when I get my M3 DS Simply i'll give it a go

I get a really strong feeling its the same thing.. they look exactly the same, act exactly the same, cost the same, and boards are the same (minus some solder points).. its the same thing.. different label!

Which then begs the question why?

If the above mentioned solder points are true, then it would prove the M3 team have done this on purpose, but I can't see any logical explanation as to why they would want to have a 'second' device which does the same thing.

Wouldprove to our advantage though, is the M3 DS is out of stock, just buy an R4 :p

well i saw somewhere that the m3 simply firmware works on the r4. well they are both made by m3, so same software structure i guess. they might have made the m3 simply, because the r4 just ain't popular. when you think slot 1, you think simply (now) and ds-xtreme. maybe ninja... but r4??!?! never heard of it. it just came up about now. seems to have been resurrected.

about the solder points: this was probably due to boost sd performance. i don't know why, but in the description for the simply, it kinda sounds like they're improving on something already done. as in, going from the r4 to simply.

if g6 didn't get good reviews and gain popularity, we might have m3 *something*(like basically?) that worked just like the g6.

attaching any well-known and popular name(m3) to any product boosts sales.

maybe R4 from M3, they release this so they can get more profits. people will buy either R4 or M3. cause R4 is still new, and it look like M3 DS simply. it like high stuff for new producer.

r4 ds and m3 ds simply are the same, from the same company. They use the same technology. R4 ds is a little cheaper. I think this company want more money. I purchased R4 DS from Echostore.com, good deal. 35.99 after 10% off. coupon #: e1068

the facotry that makes the make the r4 and m3 sells the m3 it to the m3 ppl, who take the oem and re-package it. they then sell it for extra. the r4 is made by the factory for the factory and there has the $5 lower price tag.

the m3 was based on the r4, and that is why you get FW update for the R4 and then a few days later the EXACT same ones for the m3.

the m3 team did this to capitalise on the 1slot amrket early on, so they coudl make a bit of money and produce there REAL 1slot, the m3REAL and G6Real.
