Hi, i have an m3ds real, and no matter what system file i used it didnt recognise, says system file no found, then i got one that did work, its not the latest version so abit disappointing. Now ive checked my card to see if its a fake, but it seems to be genuine. Im miffed as to why one older version works but none of the other 8 i tried (including japanese). Also what do i do with the rumble, just plug it in???? what games are good for using the rumble? Also wheres the cheapest place to buy sdhc cards, i got 4gb off ebay for £6.25 free delivery, but are there cheaper out there? Thanks Lisa.
On the box the that the M3 real came in it will have a version on it - M3 reals are region locked so if you have a USA version then you must use USA/EUR software. The link in my signature hosts them all and the latest is 4.3c - what version are you currently running? The file should be a single folder SYSTEM and you should put the whole thing on to the SD card (not just the files that are in it). Create a seperate folder (not in the system) and put the .nds files in there. To start with just put a couple of known good files on to test it, there are 2 types of software available 4.3c and Sakure 1.35 3rd edition. A test to see if the M3 card is OK - take out the micro SD and put the M3 into the DS - turn on - M3 logo in the bottom corner - after 5 - 10 seconds you will get a message - no SD card Insert the SD with the system folder on and try again. It could be a poor micro sd holder on the M3 The Rumble pack is just plug in - in some games it works, but not many. Meteroid Pinball works as does Air Traffic Control. The only thing with buying SD cards off eBay is checking that they are not hacked (the box and card says 4GB the card is 1!) Download a program called Panasonics SD Formatter (use google to find) this will remove any hacked information and show the true size.
Thanks for your reply, very helpful. On the front of the box it says M3 Sakura, and on the back it says model M3-DSR-EUR/USA+ I take it this is not an english card then?? Another question, Im looking on dealextreme.com and the prices of there cards is amazing, half the price of anything i can get in England, and before i order one (my parents also want one!) im wondering if it will work as it gives an url for a company that sells english version, but cards are way higher in price. Surely a usa card will work just the same wont it? if i put usa firmware on it? Whats the difference between english and usa versions? EUR / USA is the UK version no difference, there is also a Japanese and a Chinese version, the software for the 3 variants are not interchangeable. If you have this model than use the US/EUR software. There are 2 types of software available. Touchpod 4.3c this is the old style software, however as it has better Homebrew support (not rom) then some people still use it. Sakura 1.35 3rd generation (which also has touchpod 4.3c included) is the latest style, it works so much better and is easier to use so this is the one I would recommend. When loading the roms - no more than 128 roms per folder (but you can have more folders) and do not fill the SD card as it needs to create save files and .opt files. I leave at least 1MB per rom on the card as free space. If you start the wrong file and want to change it - Do not switch off the DS till the rom has loaded, SD cards do not like being powered down when they are doing something - this can corrupt, or kill the SD The only issue with M3 cards (although most flashcarts suffer from it to some degree) is it freezing or the DS saying no card inserted. This is down to poor contact to the DS, I open the M3 card (1 contact does not come away so fitting is fiddly) and put 3 layers of electrical tape (cut down to fit) on the back of the contacts of the card this pushes the contacts together and I have not had any issues since. Deal extreme sell both the "real" M3 Real and the Fake one so be careful, do not order the adaptese version. Yes it is sooo much cheaper than the UK about $25 for an M3 real, good value but it was great at $2 to the £1.
Hi, I downloaded Sakura 1.35 3rd generation, (took the system file off sd) and put Sakura on, and again ds says no system file found. It appears that my m3 is very sensitive and of all the system files ive tried, only one works. What does Sakura do extra, the version i dl is usa/eur but is foreign language, german i think, how can i change to english? Perhaps there is a way i can add the Sakura without the system file section? leaving my working system file on the micro sd? Thanks again, Lisa.
Ive just changed the language to english. What format do the movie files need to be in for conversion? I tried to drag and drop an avi file but didnt work! Also i tried dragging and dropping a folder full of photos onto my sd micro, and they went in ok, but when i tried to view on my ds, they were about 10 times too large, so couldnt view them.
Movies have to be in either .dpg or .dsm (DSM is now only used for M3 - for this reason I convert to dpg) Super - is a free program to convert .avi to .dpg, works well and needs nothing else (Oh apart from it only works on a PC - not MAC and you need a reasonable spec machine) I don't use the DS for photo's only for games films and music, so can't help on that one. On the system file try formatting the card and starting again, I have problems with it freezing when updating but not with "no system file" format the card and just put on the system folder. Sakura is a faster, more responsive system, you can use the touchscreen to scroll up and down the lists of roms, open and close different folders. Rather than only being able to see 4 games at a time and it being very slow if its full, the touchscreen scrolls down 100 straight away
