MediaGuru stated there are 3 applications needed to backup commercial dvd: 1) Ripper (mactheripper); 2) compress (dvd2onex): 3) burn (toast). I have 2 questions: I understand dvd2onex and toast 7 both compress and burn, so would I be able to use dvd2one or toast to compress and burn, thereby using only 2 applications instead of the 3. Also, is it better to use the latest version of toast, i.e toast 8 and dvd2onex, i.e dvd2onex2? So could the tutorial look like this: 1) rip (mth), 2) compress and burn dvd2onex or toast 7 (or 8)?

You could use MTR to rip and toast 7 or 8 to compress and burn, Altho the options are limited (just rip and have a look in toast) but if you just wanted just the movie it would work. i have used toast 7 and 8 with no problems when burning. Actually now that i think about it toast 8 gives a few more options when compressing then toast 7

Thanks trigga71. I think I'll try Toast 8 and go from there.
