Macromedia Flash Player

My wife is using a program for working on the internet through home shopping network that requires certain programs to be installed. One of which is flash player. I have always had this installed but when she tries to use her program it says that it is missing. When I go to there sight to install it says that it is installed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times with no success. I also have had errors when trying to play some web games. I assume that I'm having some type of conflict with activex controls? Any help please. Thanx
