ok I have several DVRs with hard drives, that can burn DVDs. I can record anything to the hard drive, but somethings can't be burned to DVD. i.e. paychannels and now A&E as well as ESPN, I have already bought a filter, but it doesn't work! are there any real ones out there that do work? to take the code out?
The ‘Filter” is most likely for analog MV [mostlyVHS] and do work to varying degree. They do not “filter” digital CP. Some claim too but I have yet to see it. With your DVR units [or any] recorders the problem is most likely running into a flag that will allow a recording to the HDD but not to the DVD or another one. Some programs do not even allow recording at all At this point I do not believe there are any units ‘legal’ that will change, block or remove this CP. The media people do not want a recording to a disk but may allow it to the HDD Why? So it isn't recorded and shared it with others PS HDD recorders are fairly much disappearing from the US market.
