Major Computer Problem

    ok i have a hp pavilion 752n computer its got a pentium 4 processor 512mb of ram windows xp. its not that good of a computer but it does what i want it to. i have not used this comptuer in a long long time
    i went to turn it on and i got a black screen when it firsted turned on it said i got a CMOS checksum error - defults loaded it says that the hdd is going to crash soon to back up my files but the hdd loads on anohter comptuer
    then under that it said press F2 to continue press F1 to enter SETUP
    if i press f2 i get to a screen with a flashing Underscore if i pres f1 i go to bios any help would be greatly appreatiated

    see what the time & date is in the bios because if incorrect by a few years then the cmos battery most likely died. that battery is usually a cr2032 disk type, about the size of a 25 cent piece. is cheap & easy to replace.

    nope i changed it with 3 different battery and still no dice so idn whats up with it

    does it still have the correct time & date after the last battery change?

    is the hd an ide vesion or sata version? do you have a spare hard drive?

    not really sure its the older hd not the new one and yes i have changed it wiht 3 different hds but still no good

    have you changed the ide cable?

    yup ive changed the cable and still nothing same old screen

    try switching the ide ports around so that the hd is on the secondary & the rom drives on the primary.

    i tryed that and still no good any other ideas?
