    Hi. Is it possible to make a dvd of a vhs movie? Can I transfer a data from a vcr to my pc and then make a dvd of it? Is there a program for this?

    You need to have an input device...The only thing I can think of is a low quality cam rip, using a PC camera pointed at a TV(I said low quality!!) and a video capture card. The video capture card is a little tricky to me...All I know is what it does and what some of them look like lol. That's what I think you need though.

    kinza's method will work unless the VHS tape is copy protcted! If it is use the [bold]Sima GoDVD Video Duplicator CT-2[/bold] in-line adapter to decode the Macrovision protection. It allows you to make [bold]fair use[/bold] copies. Just simply place it between the VCR and the video capture card on your PC.

    @kinza

    he is talking about the macrovsion copy protection not the tab that keeps you from recording over the tape.

    I have a winfast 2000xp expert card which I paid like $80 and have copied all my VCR tapes with nerovision express with no filter to filter the macrovision out and they come out perfect.

    If you use a Pinnacle USB capture device as linked here, http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSi...udio+Family/Studio+MovieBox+USB+version+9.htm you will be able to copy straight to the HDD. This will also remove the Macrovision at the same time. I used both this and now the Pinnacle Studio Deluxe PCI card, and have transferred all my copy protected VHS tapes to DVD this way, the software supplied with the card will also re-encode the file and burn on DVD for you. http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSi...ideo/Studio+Family/Studio+AV_DV+version+9.htm

    k how about something like this? I have a wins xp laptop & dvd burner. I already have the latest Shrink & dvd decrypter programs installed. Also, have anydvd to bypass the encryption of backing up my dvd movies. Well, i was wondering on there r some old movies that i bought many years ago and i want to transfer them onto dvd-r. Do i still need any of those programs that u mention? i mean can i just buy a dvd recorder with a VHS combo next to it?

    I fthe movies you bought are copy protected then buying a combo VHS with dvd burrner wont take away the copy protection you would have to get a capture card to get rid of the macrovision
