MAKE MY SOUND LOUD!

i have a stereo with 2 speakers as usual, but i want to hook up more speakers problem is my stereo does not have any more places for me to insert more sopeakers. What do i need to hook up more speakers and knock my house down with some sound

Hi there, what are you after, Dobly Digital Surround Sound or just duel stereo sound? If your amplifier has got enough grunt you could add another two speakers to the binding posts of the amp, if it kicks out enough wattage, and has support for low or high impedances you might be able to achieve your house destroying sound

if adding speakers to a stereo setup whould work with the amp than what would be best, turning up the ohms or lowering?

 

Depends on your amps ohmage rating, if you connect your speakers in series circuit then the ohmage is doubled, or if you connect the speakers in parrallel circuit then the ohmage is halfed.

So, if you had an amp with an 8 to 16 ohm rating then you could connect up two sets of 8 ohm speakers in series making the ohmage load about 16 ohms a channel.

 

Hmmm, thats interesting theres a whole science to it. my speakers make more than enough boom for me though, i got a pair of Cerwin-Vega CLSC-12s. they're insane! im not even running them on a real stereo setup. im driving them on the Sony MHC-GX45. :\ Not that i want to, im poor you see. lol....

 

actually, while i have a knowlegable persons attention, what brand and make reciever/amp would best go with my speakers? i dont want 5.1 or anything just a stereo setup. any price range just wondering. Thanks for any feedback.

Personally, i wouldnt go towards McIntosh. Marantz Onkyo and Pioneer all do top amps for a lot less. You can get into seriously silly money, but why? Most of the real expensive stuff isnt really built for the home end-user.

No word of a lie, i almost started drooling.

 

Yeah, i wish i could afford that sort of stuff. My mate has an airconditioning unit costing about £5k just for his "Operations Room", where he keeps the gear in a seperate room to the cinema screen. Its all water cooled and refrigerated. He even has the projector mounted inside a special glass unit that is cooled and has a hole the size of the lens so that thats all that sticks out and keeps noise to zero...

 

I just realized that if i did win the lottary i wouldnt know what to do with it.... Oriphus, id probably call you up and we'd go shopping.

 

Iv bin lookin at the brands you posted, and im really liken' NAD. it sucks that there not putting any prices on there web site.

Forget NAD, go for the Marantz gear. Get an SR9600 receiver and you are flying. I have the SR7500 myself.
