Hi, I have read the stickies and done the searches and either i have failed to miss the point or have not been eagle eyed enough but cant seem to find a solution.

I regular make home movies with my camcorder. I am currently left with a bunch of mov files on my hardrive but on this occassion cant seem to burn them onto a dvd using nero vision express without making 3 dvd's?

Only last week using this method i burned (Nero vision express) a 3 hour movie using 2 dvd discs with the same camcorder. But today and all of last night i keep getting the .... ''you have exceeded message ... only on dvd9 etc ...''

I have regularly burnt files [1 and a half hours in length] onto a dvd but today it will only allow me to burn at just over 1 hour maximum ... which will result in me needed 3 discs ?

I dont mind having 2 discs but three discs cant be right, what am i doing wrong if anything as i regulary do similar projects with Nero without a problem.

I have read the section on your guides but cant find an answer for me especially considering i have done this simple task many times previously?

    Regards

Well you can go into More-> Video Options-> DVD-VIDEO-> Bit Rate and manually set it to about 3000kb/s.

For manual bit rate settings you can use this app:

Many thanks for your reply MysticE, but will altering the bitrate mean me sacrificing quality ?

Lower bitrates = lower quality, but you get longer running times. Whether the quality of 3 hours on a DVD looks good, is up to you and also depends on what kind of TV you have. May look fine on a 27" CRT, while on a 50" plasma... not so hot. Fast motion also comes in to play.

Burn one and see if it suits your needs.

Thanks but the results werent as good so I ended up making 3 discs.

I honestly thought that some kind of software like dvdshrink would have helped me?

I have also learnt ''doh'' that if I select the ultra fine quality on my camcorder setting this will restrict the space on my DVDR disc when i come to burn it.

Thanks for all your replies anyway.
