making a backup from xbox hard drive

    hello

    not sure if this is possible but i ftp my pc to xbox using flashfxp and since i have not changed my hard drive i loaded a game on to my hard drive and this was saved in my E drive ........ok........ so then i draged the game file from my xbox file to my pc ......it said that the transfer was succesful........ then i tried to burn the file to a dvd-rw nothing happened somthing burned but nothing showed ......... is this possible can you make backups this way or am i waisting my time or am i doing something wrong......please let me know what you think thanks

    read man i am sure there soooo many tutorials out there oh yea thats right theres a big bold one at the start of the xbox backup section

    If you mean if you can make backups on a dvdr, then it is most certainly possible. More than likely, the reason why you're backup didn't work was because of two reasons:

    1) You didn't convert the game folder (with the contents of the game) into an xISO.

    2) You burned it on a DVD-RW. Don't use those, try dvd-r.

    do you know how i could convert the game once i have it saved on my pc do i need a program to do this cos i have no idea thanks for the help

    i use roxio to do mine, but you can use many differnet programs like xiso, c-xbox tool or i think nero can create iso's aswell.

    ONE OF THE BEST .ISO CREATION PROGRAMS IS QWIX...I've used it since it's start and I've never had a problem.

    uniique1 thanks for the info and had a look at you thread on using quix and nero to burn so i'll give that a go and pass on the feed back nice one

    to all of you who responded to me thanks for the help things are going ok and to uniique1 the tutorial about using Quix and nero helped me alot nice going

    relly nice guide.Where can you find your xbox I.P address though?

    If it is not displayed on your dashboard (normally 1 of the 4 corners on screen) navigate to the network settings and it should be pretty easy to find from there.

    Hiya if you planing on ftp pc and xbox make sure you enable the static IP

    VERY TRUE but remember it is only necessary to create a Static IP if you are connectiong your xbox and PC directly. If you're using a router you have the option of Static or DHCP.

    yeah you so right thanks for that correction i'm thinking of just my experiance........ oops i guess i've got some appologies to make thanks will go and clarify them mistakes ............ thanks mate......... nice one

    hello mate ..... got a little correction to make thanks to uniique1 who spotted it the bit about the IP add being static....... well only if you using a crossover cable .......... sorry my bad
