hi guys. i am having a hard time with my drive burning dvd data. i can burn dvdrw no problem or cd's +-r,rw. when it comes to dvd+r it gives me errors of not being able to finalize after writing the data or it does not burn and stops after 3% of the process. i tried using nero and ashampoo. as far as i remember there are two changes since the problems occurred: i have updated nero 6 i have bought a different media , 100 dvd+r verbatim 16x i never had problems before, although i used media of lower quality, unbranded like tevion for istance. could it be possibly the media? anyway, i post the log of a failed dvd copy. i could burn the data on dvd+rw no problem but not on dvd+r. thanks if anyone can help OEM Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 26/10/2004 18:35:32 Nero Version: 6.6.0.15 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 15h Recorder: <MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S>Version: 1.00 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.15 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S >Version: 1.00 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.15 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : SAMSUNG HM100JC atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S F: CDRom0 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1022MB (1046960kB) Free physical memory: 548MB (561316kB) Memory in use : 46 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 29.3.2007 ===== Disc-Copy over image - 1st step : Copy to image ... 23:27:02 #1 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 23:27:02 #2 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer Image Recorder running 23:27:02 #3 Text 0 File DVDCopy.cpp, Line 279 DVD Track-Information from source disc S01 T01 Con 0x04 Start 0 Len 2003632 (gap 0) Blank 0 Res 0 Dmg 0 Open Trk 0 Mode TRM_DATA_MODE1 (0) 23:27:02 #4 Text 0 File DVDCopy.cpp, Line 382 Max -1 tracks of 1 allowed to copy 1: 0 - 2003632 = 2003632, TRM_DATA_MODE1, block size 2048, read opt 0 (no read options) 23:27:02 #5 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3231 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 23:27:02 #6 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 269 Last possible write address on media: 4718591 (1048:34.41, 9215MB) Last address to be written: 2003631 (445:15.06, 3913MB) 23:27:02 #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 281 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 23:27:02 #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2477 Recorder: Image Recorder; CD type reading failed ATIP Data: ? 23:27:02 #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 447 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 23:27:02 #10 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 830 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (1 - Data (mode 1)) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2003632 (2003632) = #2003632/445:15.7 not relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/not required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2003632 blocks [Image Recorder] -------------------------------------------------------------- 23:27:03 #11 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1043 Prepare recorder [Image Recorder] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x40; Session Closed, disc fixated Tracks 1 to 1: 1: TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048/0x00, FilePos 0 0 4103438336, ISRC "" DAO layout: =========== __Start_|____Track_|_Idx_|_CtrlAdr_|_RecDep__________ 0 | lead-in | 0 | 0x41 | 0x00 0 | 1 | 0 | 0x41 | 0x00 0 | 1 | 1 | 0x41 | 0x00 2003632 | lead-out | 1 | 0x41 | 0x00 23:27:03 #12 Phase 120 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 Creating the image for burning 23:27:03 #13 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 2643 Verifying disc position of item 0 (not relocatable, no disc pos, no patch infos, orig at #0): write at #0 23:38:47 #14 Text 0 File WriterStatus.cpp, Line 116 < Image Recorder > start writing Lead-Out at LBA 2003632 (1E92B0h), lenght 0 blocks 23:38:47 #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 228 all writers idle, stopping conversion 23:38:47 #16 Phase 121 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1832 Creating Image completed successfully ===== Disc-Copy over image - 2nd step : Burn the image ... 23:38:52 #1 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 23:38:52 #2 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-841S running 23:38:52 #3 IMAGEGEN -10 File ImageGen.cpp, Line 366 Image was written as DAO. Hi alanford 1st thing edit out your serial # - top of log and begins w/ 1A. Don't need someone else using it. Yeah those Matshita drive can drive you insane I have the UJ840 and it doesn't like Verbatim 16x media either so this might be the case here too. A shame really cause no problems with it & other burners - good media too. Looks like your firmware is probably update to date unless this is a Sony laptop - the latest for that is 1.11 File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS' File 'Drivers\InCDfs.SYS' Roxio and Nero don't always play well together esp when Nero's InCD is installed. So you can also try uninstalling Roxio and run the zap tool. Then uninstalling InCD and running the clean tool.
hi binkie7 thanks very much, you have been very clear. i have tried different media, tdk +,- and it has no problem. i sense the - disks have less problems. what i don't understand, is how comes that i could use the firsta ca. 20 disks from the spindle of 100 without any hassle? i will try to uninstall in cd as you suggest. thanks for the tip, but i cannot find the edit function, it works only for the thread title. bye
You're welcome alanford Just my experience with Matshita but it seems to be picky with media at times. And yes for me too the +R it tends to dislike more. Another thing could be you got a bad batch of Verbs - to test that out if you have another burner try them in that one. To edit the post click on this:
thank you. i need glasses. i thought myself it could be a bad batch with some good ones on top, in fact it was at half price, but in a reliable shop. as we say here: he who spends more, saves better. good day
Yeah unfortunately not even the best are 100% all the time. May be the case here. At least you still have other media that works with it so thats a good thing. Have a good one!
