please forgive my lack of knowledge,

I bought a new PC and want to transfer my VHS wedding video to DVD, however it works fine on PC's but not on my mother in-laws stand alone DVD-player.

I believe thats because the stand alone supports +R and my burner does -R.

Can I use anything to fix -R to +R recording or do I need a new burner that supports +R or both +-R?

    Can firmware do this?

    Thanks
    Wayne

many questions need to be answered.
How did you transfer the video to dvd (i.e. program, what media, what burner)? What kind of standalone dvd does your mother in law have. Usually -r has better compatibility. You can check the compatibilties at www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers. To make a +r would require a +r type burner(or a duel burner).
I have not heard of firmware type fixes.
