Hello there, I wanted to know if you can recommend the best suggestions to unlock my Net10 1600 Nokia phone. What methods are usually used? Can it be done? Do those "pay for unlocking" sites really work? Do I absolutely have to have software for this phone to be unlocked? If so, where do I get a cable that attaches to this specific phone? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this...am I correct in thinking that unlocking my phone would me no more buying Net10 cards and going broke all the time? lol Thanks so much in advance.
Net10 and Tracfone both have software built into the phone and has what's called a "time tank" which I'm sure by now you know all about. If you were to unlock this phone with a code, you would still have to buy "units" when using minutes from a different network because that's how the phones software was designed. The phone would need to be flashed and the "time tank" software removed and then unlocked directly while they were at it before you could freely use it on any network without having to worry about the time tank anymore. This is why we do not mess with any Tracfones or Net10 phones because it's useless. Who would want to buy 100 minutes for Cingular and then make sure they have 100 units to match up with the Cingular minutes they just bought? You follow the concept now? All of this needs to be done at your local cell phone repair shop because it takes equipment to do this, not just a simple cable connection. My advice to you for that phone would be to sell it to someone else and buy a phone that's worth a little more because you're looking at nearly $40.00 to do what I mentioned for a $20 or less phone.
