Does anyone know of a problem (& the fix for) Windows Media Player 8? I have .avi files that would play in MP7, but since I've upgraded to Windows XP (w/MP8) I can't get several of my AV files to work. I have all of the codec installed, but there are several movies that I only get the audio portion, not the video. I can still view these movies on my other PC with Media Player 7 installed, but I can not get a picture with the Media Player 8. Hellllllp!!!!
I tried uninstalling & reinstalling. It didn't work. I've read about a lot of problems with seeing the picture but not getting the audio. Am I the only one that is having the opposite problem? Like I said before, these avi files are viewable thru Media Player 7.0 (the version with ME) but they don't work since I've upgraded to Windows XP. Any ideas???
aside from reinstalling the codecs from scratch, did you check the ms website, did they say anything? and if all else fails maybe a different video player would work? if a different one works, you know it's wmp's fault, if it doesn't your problem lies else where
what codec pack(s) are you installing? I use XP and WM8, and have absolutely no problems with playback of any movies.
I am using Nimo for the codec files. MS had no information about WMP8, they only offered version 7 & version 9. I also tried to play these movies on the DivX Player version 2.0 with no luck. I downloaded version 9 of WMP & haven't had any problems with it yet. I think this solved my problem. Thanks for the input.
