What is the skinny on media? Can i go with the 40 cent dvd-r and get away with it? I am willing to make a couple coasters at that price. Or is it actually cheaper to go high end? Please recommend actual brands of media even refer best places to buy from. I am also interested in any dvd management packages (out of scope of this forum, but I know you guys all have one).

Sorry all, I just noticed there is a media thread group! I am a bad newbie.. very bad!
    Thanks again

You can go with .40 media but do it expecting a lot more than a couple coasters. Another thing to consider with the cheap media is that, although your burn may go through, I've read posts here about people who have experieced problems with the cheap discs not lasting and giving errors after a while.

In my opinion Ritek G03 or G04 discs are the best especially with a price of around a buck apiece (G03s go for less). They are top notch media and can be found at supermediastore.com or rima.com.

Oh yeah, this should have been in the media section :)

I use datawrite silver 65 70 pence each and have made 2 coasters so far over at least a couple hundred film back ups
